From October 14 to 16, within the framework of the 30th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition held at the Baku Expo Center, “AS Group” organized an international conference titled “Smart and Green Solutions for Sustainable Development.”
The purpose of the conference was to provide international awareness about the “Smart Village” concept developed under the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, as well as to exchange experience with foreign experts. The event was attended by architects, field specialists, and representatives of state and private institutions from various countries.
At the beginning of the event, a video clip about Azerbaijan’s first “Smart Village” project — Aghali village in Zangilan — was presented. Shahin Movsumov - the founder of “AS Group”, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable and green projects.
The Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources, Javid Abdullayev, spoke about the “green energy” zone established in the liberated territories, while Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Architecture Andrey Asadov delivered a presentation on “Sustainable Architecture.” Doctoral candidate at the University of Architecture and Construction and Deputy Director of “AS Inshaat” LLC Rashad Mehdiyev gave a presentation about Aghali village.
Two panel sessions were organized within the framework of the conference. The first panel, moderated by Doctor of Art Studies and Professor Elchin Aliyev, was held under the theme “Sustainable Architecture – The Symbiosis of Energy-Efficient and Adaptive Construction.”
Participants included Shahin Movsumov (Founder of AS Group), Nariman Imamaliyev (Honored Architect), Hayri Baysak (Head of “RETA Project”), Giorgi Khmaladze (Founder of “Giorgi Khmaladze Architects”), Nazim Fereczade (Architect), and Emre Karabulut (Deputy Director of “AS Inshaat” LLC).
Participants included Shahin Movsumov (Founder of AS Group), Nariman Imamaliyev (Honored Architect), Hayri Baysak (Head of “RETA Project”), Giorgi Khmaladze (Founder of “Giorgi Khmaladze Architects”), Nazim Fereczade (Architect), and Emre Karabulut (Deputy Director of “AS Inshaat” LLC).
Panelists discussed topics such as the “Smart Village” concept in the context of sustainable development and settlement, architectural styles, construction technologies, innovations, building materials and structural solutions, as well as the impact of the “Smart Village” project’s economic infrastructure on the development of agriculture (livestock, crop farming, horticulture), business, and tourism.
After a short break, the second panel — “Energy Efficiency and the Application of Green Energy in Urban Planning” — was moderated by Jamil Malikov, Director of “INESCO” LLC. Participants included Shahin Movsumov, Javid Abdullayev (Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources), Agshin Badalov (Founder of “AGAS Group”), and Sabuhi Mammadov (Director of “AS Istehsal” LLC).
This panel focused on topics such as energy-efficient buildings and green energy technologies within the “Smart Village” project, energy efficiency in buildings, integration of renewable energy into urban and rural infrastructure, smart energy management systems, and regulatory and technical standards.
Following both panels, the event continued with question-and-answer sessions.
